Onboarding video maker

Relo is an onboarding video maker: record one task in your product, attach it, and Relo turns it into a short guide that zooms in on each click, labels it and numbers the steps, with captions. No recording? Describe the steps and it makes a motion-graphics walkthrough instead.

A screen capture turned into a step-by-step guide by Relo.

In brief:

  • What you give it: a screen recording of one task in your product, or a short description of the first steps a new user takes.
  • What you get: a short guide that zooms in on each click, labels it and numbers the steps, with captions.
  • One video per task: short videos that each answer one "how do I…?" work better than a long tour.
  • Cost: 35 credits per video and 10 per render, plus 10 for an AI voiceover.

What is an onboarding video?

An onboarding video shows a new user how to get their first result in your product: connect an account, create the first project, invite the team. It replaces a long help article with 30–90 seconds of the task being done, so people reach the moment where the product is useful before they lose interest.

Which onboarding videos should you make first?

Start with the steps between sign-up and the first useful result. For most products that's three to five videos:

VideoWhere it goes
Welcome: what the product does for you, in 30 secondsThe welcome email and the first screen after sign-up
The first setup step (connect, import or upload)The empty state of that screen
Creating the first real thing (a project, invoice, report)Inside the product, next to the button
Inviting the teamThe settings page and a day-3 email
The feature people miss mostA day-7 email

How do you make onboarding videos with Relo?

  1. Record one task with any screen recorder. Use demo data, close other tabs and pause for a second after each click.
  2. Choose Screen recording in the mode menu and attach the capture.
  3. Say what the video teaches, for example "How to send your first invoice in Ledgerly, in four steps".
  4. Watch the draft. Relo frames the window, zooms in on each action, adds a callout and a step number to each, and captions it.
  5. Ask for changes: "Rename step 2 to Add your client", "Zoom in more on the Send button". Then render.

No recording yet? Pick Standard mode and describe the steps: Relo makes a motion-graphics walkthrough from the description. The screen recording guide covers recording in more detail.

How long should an onboarding video be?

30 to 90 seconds, one task each. New users are trying to finish something, not learn everything; if a video needs more than five steps, split it.

Should onboarding videos have a voiceover?

Captions are enough for most in-product videos, because people often watch with the sound off at work. Add an AI voiceover (+10 credits, or 20 in your own cloned voice) for the welcome video and anything that explains why, not just how. For a more personal welcome, use an AI avatar presenter.

What does it cost?

35 credits per video and 10 per render. A five-video onboarding set with one render each comes to about 225 credits, or 275 with voiceovers. New accounts get 100 credits free; see pricing.
