How to get the most
out of Relo

You describe the video in a chat, Relo writes, designs and animates it, and you change it by saying what you want. This guide covers which mode to pick, how to write the brief, what each option costs, and how to get from draft to final file.

First time? Set up your product profile.

Open your Product profile and add your product name, a short description, your colours and your logo. It takes two minutes, and Relo uses it in every video: to write the script, pick the palette, place your logo and word the call to action.

Use my product profileis on by default in the video options. Turn it off only when a video shouldn't carry your brand.

Choosing the right mode

Pick a mode from the mode menu next to the chat box. Standard is the default and suits most videos; the others give a different look or need different input.

Standard

Launches, promos, ads35 credits

Designed motion graphics built from your brief: titles, product shots, callouts and transitions. No footage needed; attach clips or screenshots and they are cut into the video.

3D motion graphics

A premium feel35 credits

The same motion graphics placed in 3D space, with depth and a moving camera.

Screen recording

Walkthroughs, onboarding35 credits

Attach a screen capture and Relo turns it into a guided walkthrough with zooms on each action, callouts and numbered steps.

AI avatar

Beta · founder notes, sales, onboarding70 credits

Choose one of ten realistic presenters. They speak your script, or one Relo writes, to camera with motion graphics around them. The presenter does the talking, so voiceover options are off. Up to two attachments; scripts up to 4,000 characters.

Illustrated story

Brand stories, mascots50 credits, voiceover included

Hand-drawn 2D animation in which characters tell your product’s story. Attach your mascot or character art and it stars in the film, or let Relo design the cast.

3D story

Storytelling with depth50 credits, voiceover included

The illustrated story staged in 3D, with a camera moving through hand-drawn scenes.

Stickman

Skits, dialogue, meme ads50 credits, voiceover included

A stick-figure scene where the characters talk, each in their own voice: people, kids, pets, robots or monsters.

Presenter

Explainers, product reviews50 credits, voiceover included

A friendly cartoon host talks to camera while motion graphics explain the idea, as an explainer or holding your product in a review.

💡 Not sure? Use Standard. It covers launch videos, feature announcements, ads and social posts, and works from a brief alone.

How to write the brief

The message you type in the chat is the brief. It shapes the script, the structure, the pacing and the on-screen text. A few specific sentences beat a long paragraph of adjectives.

What to include

  • →The hook: what happens in the first two or three seconds
  • →The arc: problem → solution → proof → call to action
  • →The tone: energetic and punchy, calm and trustworthy, or playful and fast
  • →Key messages: two or three things that must appear
  • →The ending: the exact call to action and URL
  • →Length: for example, “under 30 seconds”

Good example

“Fast-paced launch video for GhostReply, an app that drafts replies to messages you’ve left unanswered. Open on a phone with 14 unread chats. Problem: ‘Left on read again?’ Show the reply being drafted and sent in one tap. Proof: ‘Replies in 3 seconds.’ End on ‘Try it free at ghostreply.app’. Confident, not salesy. Under 30 seconds.”

Weak example

“Make a good video about our product.” Relo will still make something, but it has to guess the story, the tone and the ending.

Video options and what they cost

Open Video options next to the chat box. The cost updates as you switch options on, and you see the total before anything is charged.

Captions

Free
  • →Word-timed captions from the video’s audio
  • →Turn them on for any social video: most people scroll with the sound off

Background music

Free
  • →Six moods: Chill, Energetic, Corporate, Cinematic, Lo-fi and Upbeat
  • →Energetic or Upbeat for ads and launches; Chill or Corporate under a voiceover

Free stock footage

Free
  • →Real-world photos and clips to fill the gaps between your own shots
  • →Works best for general scenes: offices, people at work, cities, nature

AI voiceover

+10 credits
  • →Relo writes the narration from your brief and product profile
  • →21 built-in voices; preview them before you choose
  • →Use it when the message is easier to say than show, or when your clips have no useful sound

Your own voice

+20 instead of +10
  • →Narrate in your cloned voice. Record a short sample once in your product profile and every video can reuse it

Mute original audio

Free
  • →Drops the sound from your clips, for example when narrating over noisy footage

Remove background

+10 credits
  • →Cuts the subject out of your clips for a clean, studio look
  • →Works best when the subject stands clearly apart from the background

Reference video

+10 credits
  • →Paste a link to a video you like; Relo builds yours with its pacing, structure and look, never its content
  • →Clone it goes further: it copies the reference’s script beats and word-timed moments with your content, and turns on voiceover and captions
💡 Voiceover, stock footage, music and source clips are gathered when the video is created, so switch on the ones you want before you start. Chat edits change what’s on screen, not those.

From draft to final video

After you send the brief, Relo analyses any attachments, writes and designs the video, and plays a draft preview in the chat. This takes a few minutes.

Change it by chatting · 5 credits per edit

Each edit is a sentence, and Relo makes a new draft. Edits can change anything on screen:

  • →“Make the headline bigger and bolder”
  • →“Cut the intro to two seconds”
  • →“Move the logo to the top left”
  • →“Add an animated counter that counts up to 50,000”
  • →“End on the website URL”

What needs a new video

  • →Adding an AI voiceover, or changing its audio
  • →Fetching different stock footage or music
  • →Swapping the source clips you attached
  • →Switching to a different mode

Render · 10 credits per size

When the draft looks right, render the final MP4. Each size (9:16, 16:9, 1:1) is its own 10-credit render from the same video.

Using your own footage

Most videos need nothing but a brief. Footage helps when the product itself is the point.

  • →Attach clips, screenshots, your logo or one audio track to the chat message
  • →Short clips that each show something different give Relo more to work with than one long clip
  • →Clear speech in a clip helps: the transcript feeds the script and the captions
  • →For a screen capture, use the Screen recording mode: one task, steady clicks, demo data, browser zoomed to 110–125%
  • →Noisy audio? Turn on Mute original audio and add an AI voiceover
  • →Attach unedited footage and Relo builds the cut. A finished, edited video is edited on top rather than re-cut

Sizes and platforms

Choose the size when you create the video; the layout is composed for that canvas. Render other sizes from the same video when you need them.

9:16 · Vertical

TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts

16:9 · Widescreen

YouTube, your website, LinkedIn, X, Product Hunt

1:1 · Square

Instagram and Facebook feeds, LinkedIn feed

Making videos from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

Relo also works inside AI assistants over MCP. Connect it once, then ask for a video in the chat you already use, watch the draft there, ask for changes and render it, on the same credits as the website.

Recommended workflow

1

Set up your product profile

Name, description, colours and logo, once. Every video uses it.

2

Pick a mode

Standard for most videos. Screen recording for walkthroughs, AI avatar for a person talking, a story mode for characters.

3

Write a real brief

Hook, arc, tone, key messages, ending and length, in a few sentences.

4

Switch on the options you need

Captions and music are free. Add voiceover, background removal or a reference only when they help.

5

Watch the draft and edit by chat

Ask for changes in plain words, 5 credits each, until it’s right.

6

Render the sizes you need

10 credits per size. Upload the file natively to each platform.
